Four brands, nine countries, one page

I built the first business review that compared four brands and nine countries side by side.

  • Stage: 1 to 2

On one scorecard
9 countries
Reporting the same numbers
10%
Revenue lift in one market, once a stuck budget moved

The problem

Four brands, sold in nine countries, with no standard way to compare them. Marketing money, inventory, and manufacturing forecasts were all being set without a like-for-like picture of which markets were working.

What I did

I defined one set of financial and operational measures, from purchase order to sale, and got every brand and country reporting them the same way. Then I designed and ran the first quarterly review that put all of them side by side.

What changed

Leadership could compare markets like for like, and budgets, inventory, and forecasts could follow the numbers. Along the way I found a marketing budget in Japan that was stuck in approval. Once it was released, the spend contributed to a 10% revenue lift there that quarter.

Stuck somewhere between order and cash?

Bring the messiest part. That’s usually where I’d start anyway.

I’ll tell you plainly if I’m the wrong person for it.
